The Opportunity

With the rise of AI search (powered by LLMs like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity) came a decline of organic traffic due to zero-click search tendencies. SteelSeries needed to increase its visibility and control how its brand and products surfaced across AI search platforms.

  • SteelSeries lacked consistent brand mentions; particularly for their flagship headset lines. Rather, commonly asked AI queries surfaced their competitors.

Objectives

  2. Increase SteelSeries brand preference for AI-driven gamer audiences by highlighting SteelSeries’ unique product features.
  3. Track AI leads and funnel them to SteelSeries product pages in order to boost AI search conversions.

The Approach

SteelSeries leveraged Goodie’s comprehensive AI visibility monitoring platform to optimize their presence for high-intent queries across AI search engines. Here’s how they did it:

  1. High-Impact Source Identification
    Using Goodie’s AI Optimization Hub, SteelSeries pinpointed which publishers and influencers were already being surfaced as authoritative truth sources in the gaming category.

    Analysis revealed that a small group of review sites and Reddit threads accounted for an incredibly large share of headset-related discussions, and therefore citations. This insight guided SteelSeries to focus outreach on those sources.
